Synthetic lubricants are manufactured or synthesized in chemical plants or refineries (by combining, reacting or polymerizing basic components some of which may be the by-products of oil refining) to produce tailor-made products that can lubricant like conventional lubricants but at severe or extreme condition, as they exhibit unique combination of properties like high-temperature stability, extended temperature range, long service life even in reactive environments etc.
