What is a lubricant?


Ans-: A lubricant may be defined as

"A substance, such as oil or grease that reduces friction when applied as a surface coating to moving parts".

                                                                or

"A substance used to prevent contact of parts in relative motion, and thereby reduce friction and wear, and prevent rusting".

                                                                or 

"A substance introduced between two moving surfaces to reduce the friction between them, improving efficiency and reducing wear".
